FIFA lifts suspension of Football Kenya Federation

The FIFA Council decided to lift the suspension on the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) that was put in place back in February 2022. They did this because the FKF General Secretary, Barry Otieno, sent a letter to FIFA confirming that the Kenyan government, represented by the new Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Hon. Ababu Namwamba, had reinstated the FKF Executive Committee immediately. Otieno also said that the FKF offices were handed back to the association’s elected leaders.

With the suspension lifted, FIFA and CAF are sending a team to Nairobi to figure out the next steps for the FKF. They’ll also meet up with the new Sports Cabinet Secretary.

But, just so you know, this lifting of the suspension doesn’t mean the investigations and court stuff at the national level are dropped or ignored. Those are still going on.
